Our Centre Philosophy
Vision: Children First encourages children to their full potential through respectful, responsive relationships in a play-based environment. This empowers children to be confident learners and effective communicators, with a great sense of well-being and belonging.
Mission: To prepare children for life-long learning. Children and their families will be ready for the next part of their learning journey, where they will be respectful to themselves and others and will respond to the different challenges that they will face in life.
Communication is valued and is supported through everyday interactions supported by teachers.
It is understood that there are many forms of communication, and we will use different strategies to get the voices of all the children that we teach alongside within our planning and assessment.
Differences are acknowledged and celebrated.
We will celebrate and acknowledge Te Tiriti O Waitangi and show respect to all cultures.
We want to give all children the same opportunities to learn and develop to their full potential and believe this can be done by children seeing themselves and their culture within the centre.
This will be carried out in a safe and supportive environment.
Children will gain positive attitudes towards learning and will have intrinsic motivation to learn and become life-long learners.
Children are individuals, and are given the time and opportunity to explore, create and play with and alongside others, and we base this on the guiding principles of Te Whāriki.
We will provide a fun and nurturing environment that offers the children challenges to test themselves and the theories that they hold about the world around them.
We believe that children should be able to explore freely, with non-restrictive movement that is relevant to their age and stage of development.
